Mitsubishi I Miev. Haven’t seen one in ages. It’s ten years old so I guess the battery will just about take it down the street.

I have seen exactly one (1) i -MiEV in the wild. And it was a few months ago. Weird considering how well Mitsubishi sells here compared to the rest of the country (sales are bad, not awful). They belong to an older and less fashionable attitude towards EVs.

Is it bad that I want to turn one of these into a tiny pickup truck? I think the front end looks fine, but something about the back end is... ugly.

I’m just annoyed that the North American i-MiEV was embiggened, so we got cheated out of a real US-market kei car.
IIRC the actual kei version was even prepared for NA crash standards for Canada (although with larger bumpers than in Japan), and they decided to use the embiggened one instead...

I think the front end no portion of it looks fine, but something about the back end entire vehicle is... ugly.
There, fixed it for you. You’re welcome. ;)

Maybe a van would be better.

interesting - saw a white one of those over here earlier this week. Never really were many of them and now most of those have been traded in on Teslas or Nissan Leafs....

Did they ever sell that in North America?

As was the Sport Air.

I saw one today, too. It was a big surprise. The battery and range was just too small with these and they never fixed it like Nissan improved the Leaf.

Funny , I saw one of these yesterday randomly!

Even more weird and unknown are the Citroen and Peugeot variants, both of which actually sold better as a whole than the i-MiEV in Europe.
Really, the entire project was doomed as soon as the Leaf came out. The i-MiEV wasn’t horrendous, but it was a very old fashioned EV conversion that came right at the start of the age of Leafs and Teslas. I guess it was cheap, but if price was a big factor, you’d probably just buy a much, much, much nicer and “car-like” fossil fuel burning car instead. At least back then.

I kind of liked the Sport Air, it had kind of a post WWII European bubble car vibe going on.
